Tamararo Grants 2024–2025

From July 2024 to June 2025, Tairāwhiti Cultural Development Trust proudly supported the growth and revitalisation of kapa haka within our rohe by awarding 10 grants of $5,000. These grants were designed to strengthen kapa haka through initiatives in the following areas:

1. Rohe Development

2. Youth Development

3. Business Growth

4. Public image.

We are excited to display the 10 grant recipients for the 2024-2025 year and the kaupapa they delivered to uplift kapa haka across Te Tairāwhiti.

Hinekahukura - Uawa Moteatea Club

Our project began with the establishment of the Mōteatea Club in August 2024 – a safe, inclusive space for the people of Ūawa to connect, learn, and preserve our local mōteatea.

Te Kura a Iwi o Whangara Piupiu

For Te Kura a Iwi o Whāngārā to obtain a full set of piupiu for future kapahaka performances so we can not only continue in the future to share our kōrero through mōteatea, haka and waiata, but also take our kapahaka to the next level to perform in the whakataetae Te Mana Kuratahi 2025 wearing the same kākahu as our Whāngārā-mai-tawhiti rōpū
